Pervious Pavement

What is pervious pavement?

Pervious pavement is a type of pavement that allows water to make its way through the surface and down to the ground level. 

Examples include:
porous asphalt
pervious concrete
permeable interlocking concrete pavement

Why use pervious pavement?

Pervious pavement is a productive way to reduce and filter out pollutants that flow into the waterways. The stormwater is filtered back into the ground through the pavement.

Advantages

Durable 

Low Maintenance

Low-cost

Reduce pollutants that make their way into the water

Disadvantages

Not as strong as traditional pavement 

Bad for areas where loading/unloading occurs
