In the 1970s The University of Wisconsin Whitewater purchased 170 acres of land for the construction of dormitories as the university was expecting a massive increase in the school’s population. When the school found that increase was no longer was happening, the land was transitioned to a wildlife preserve to bring back natural spices of wildlife.
